A Philadelphia police officer was injured after getting bit by a pit bull while responding to a call on Saturday night, police said.
The incident took place as two officers responded to a domestic disturbance at around 7:46 p.m. at the 5200 block of Arbor Street in the city’s Olney neighborhood, police said.
As the two officers walked up to the home, a person came out with a pit bull and the pit bull attacked an officer, police said.
The officer, who was bitten in the arm, is listed in stable condition, police said.
However, according to Philadelphia Inspector DF Pace, the officer could have been more badly injured if she was not wearing added layers due to the cold.
The pit bull was shot and killed by the other officer responding to the call, police said.
No further details about the people who were involved in the domestic disturbance were available or whether any charges would come from the incident.
