Holy Cross opened its season Saturday with a 66-37 victory over Fannie Lou Hamer Freedom from Bronx, N.Y., at Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Adam Badyrka and Colin Farrell each scored 20 points for the Crusaders, who are ranked No. 1 in the Times-Tribune preseason Top 10 poll.

Farrell hit six 3-pointers in the game, while Badyrka had 13 of his points in the third quarter when Holy Cross outscored Hamer, 23-15, to extend a 16-point halftime lead to 52-28.

Wilkes-Barre Area 51, Old Forge 43: At Wilkes-Barre Area, freshman guard Orlando Williams made two of his three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to help Wilkes-Barre Area hold off Old Forge in the championship game of the Wilkes-Barre Area Tip-Off Tournament.

David Jannuzzi scored 13 points for Wilkes-Barre Area, including 5 for 6 from the foul line in the fourth quarter.

Ryan DeMarco led No. 3 Old Forge (1-1) with 14 points and five assists. Cameron Parker and Logan Fanning each had 13 points. Fanning also had 11 rebounds and four blocks. Both of those players were named to the all-tournament team.

Valley View 61, Forest City 25: At Forest City, Noah Symuleski got Valley View off to a fast start in its season-opening win.

Symuleski netted all 12 of his points in the first quarter when the Cougars outscored the Foresters, 29-3.

Jordan Drake added nine points for Valley View, all of which came in the second half. Jagger Roe, Cash Roe and Colin Witkowski contributed eight points apiece.

Evan Dottle and Mark Lesjack each had six points for Forest City.

Delaware Valley 77, Lackawanna Trail 47: At Delaware Valley, Colin McGarvey and Trey Newton each scored 14 points as the host Warriors built a 16-point halftime lead and defeated Lackawanna Trail in the opener for both teams.

Tyler Lombardo added 12 points for Delaware Valley, ranked No. 7 in the Times-Tribune preseason Top 10.

Logan Seigle led the No. 10 Lions with 13 points and Lucas Filipek chipped in 10.

Brandywine Heights 64, Mountain View 56: At Mountain View, Landen Fenstermacher scored 22 points as Brandywine Heights advanced to the championship game of the Mountain View Tipoff Tournament.

Fenstermacher scored seven of his points in the fourth quarter to help Brandywine hold off a Mountain View comeback attempt.

Nate Winkler added 20 points for the winners, 14 of which came in the first half when Brandywine built a 13-point halftime lead.

Hudson Bain finished with 36 points for Mountain View and Jordan Jagger followed with 14. Each had 10 points in the third quarter when the Eagles narrowed the halftime deficit to 44-43 entering the fourth quarter.

Brandywine will face Wyoming Seminary in the championship game Monday. Wyoming Seminary advanced with a 45-35 win over Lehigh Valley Charter Academy. Mountain View will play Lehigh Valley Charter Academy in the consolation game.

Montrose 61, Lake-Lehman 31: At Lake-Lehman, Jai Herman scored a game-high 22 points and Evan McComb added 19 to lead Montrose to a road win.

Herman had 11 of his points in the first quarter to help the Meteors jump out to a 14-7 lead. Then, leading, 28-12, at halftime, McComb scored 11 of his points — including three 3-pointers — in the third quarter as Montrose extended its advantage to 46-24.

Hunter Palka led Lake-Lehman with 11 points.

Lakeland 42, Nanticoke 23: At Nanticoke Area, Cole Tonkin hit six 3-pointers in the first half and finished with a game-high 20 points to lead Lakeland to a nonleague win in its opener.

Tonkin had four of his 3s in the first quarter when the Chiefs jumped out to an 18-2 lead.

Chase Rosenkrans added 10 points for Lakeland, which held Nanticoke to four points in the first half to lead by 31 at halftime.

Crestwood 56, West Scranton 52 (OT): At Crestwood, Miles Metz went 8 for 8 from the foul line in overtime to help the host Comets outlast West Scranton.

Metz finished with 15 points, all of which came after halftime. Ayden Agapito led Crestwood with 16 points and Gio Barna added 11, including three in overtime.

Nate Schimelfenig topped West Scranton with 19 points. Seamus Wallace hit three 3-pointers and wound up with 11 points for the Invaders, all of which came in the third and fourth quarters and overtime.
