HELLERTOWN, Pa. – A fire tore through The Moon of Saucon Valley in Lower Saucon Township late Saturday night.

Firefighters from multiple departments battled the flames late into the night at the venue, formerly known as The Meadows.

Multiple calls were received by Northampton County dispatchers for a building which was “fully engulfed,” according to Lower Saucon Fire Rescue.

Lower Saucon Fire Rescue handled the initial response, with additional crews from nearby fire companies across Northampton, Lehigh, and Bucks providing support.

A second-alarm response assignment was requested and first arriving units found heavy fire throughout the building, fire officials say.

Multiple water tanker units were required due to the limited water supply via fire hydrants in the area.

Responders say most of the crews cleared the scene as of 8:51 a.m. Sunday morning.

Smoke could still be seen on Sunday afternoon. Firefighters were back on scene for hours and an excavator could be seen moving around the property. A State Police Fire Marshal has been brought in to investigate the fire.

More than a dozen people stopped by the venue to take a look at the damage on Sunday. None of them wanted to speak on camera, but they said it is a venue with a lot of memories from sweet 16 parties to weddings and they are sad to see the damage the fire caused.

No injuries were reported.

“Last night brought an event we hoped our community would never face. A longstanding landmark succumbed to a devastating fire…While we are grateful that, as of this writing, no injuries have been reported, this tragedy has reminded us once again of the vital importance of volunteerism,” says David Heintzelman, Mayor of Hellertown. “Although we may never fully know every detail of how or why this happened, we can be profoundly proud of the Saucon Valley Fire Rescue, the Hellertown Fire Department, and the many additional departments who responded and worked tirelessly to contain this inferno into the early morning hours.”

Lower Saucon Fire officials are assisting the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal with the investigation.
