PHILADELPHIA – The Ivy League has announced its weekly awards in men’s basketball, and University of Pennsylvania freshman center Dalton Scantlebury was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week.

Scantlebury opened the Cathedral Classic with his second double-double as a collegian, leading all players in points (22) and rebounds (13) while also blocking three shots and dishing out two assists in Penn’s win over Merrimack. In Sunday’s loss to Hofstra, he led the Quakers in rebounds (6) and steals (3) while adding eight points and two assists, and he recorded four points, two boards and two blocks in the Quakers’ win Saturday over city rival La Salle.

Penn (5-3) will play in Big 5 Classic championship game this Saturday; tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Xfinity Mobile Arena. The Quakers will play the winner of tonight’s game between Temple and Villanova at the Wildcats’ Finneran Pavilion. Next Monday, the Red and Blue will host Lafayette at The Palestra in a game that tips off at 6 p.m.
