The region’s premier celebration of excellence in public relations returns this winter as the 2025 Pepperpot Awards take place on Thursday, December 4, at The Down Town Club by Cescaphe (600 Chestnut Street). Hosted annually by PRSA Philadelphia, the Pepperpots bring together the city’s PR and communications professionals for an evening dedicated to outstanding campaigns, innovative tactics, impactful storytelling, and the practitioners who elevate the industry year after year.
Now a highly anticipated tradition, the Pepperpot Awards give agencies, organizations, and independent practitioners the opportunity to have their proudest projects reviewed by a PRSA sister chapter. Judges evaluate work across strategy, creativity, execution, and measurable impact — culminating in a celebration of the best communication efforts across the region.
This year’s event will be hosted by Jay the Gentleman of Wooder Ice Media and will welcome professionals from across Philadelphia’s public relations, marketing, nonprofit, and corporate sectors. Whether submitting work for recognition or attending to support colleagues, guests can expect an evening of networking, camaraderie, and well-deserved celebratioN.
The Pepperpot Awards are unique to Philadelphia, named after the city’s famed Pepperpot soup, a dish with origins dating back to the Revolutionary War. In 1968, then-chapter president Bill Parker, APR, of Campbell Soup Company, proposed naming the awards after this iconic dish to symbolize the creativity, passion, and variety poured into every PR campaign.
“Like Philly’s famous soup, we put everything we have into all of our public relations campaigns,” Parker said at the time. More than five decades later, the Pepperpot remains one of Philadelphia’s most coveted professional honors.
A central component of the Pepperpot Awards is the recognition of integrity and ethical leadership. Since 1950, the PRSA Code of Ethics has served as a guiding framework for practitioners, outlining core principles such as advocacy, honesty, expertise, independence, loyalty, and fairness.
Each year, PRSA Philly’s leadership selects an individual or team whose work exemplifies these values and reflects a steadfast commitment to ethical communication.
This year, PRSA Philadelphia is proud to honor Jenn Frederick, a trusted voice and dynamic presence in the region’s media landscape.
Jenn has been a beloved part of “Good Day Philadelphia” since 2003, delivering breaking news, sports updates, and community stories to viewers each morning. In August 2025, she expanded her impact with the launch of FOX29 LIVE AT NOON, balancing early-morning coverage with midday reporting that dives deeper into the stories shaping daily life across the region.
Throughout her career, Jenn has demonstrated a commitment to journalistic integrity, earning an Emmy Award for investigative reporting and building a reputation rooted in accuracy, compassion, and community connection. She began her career as a bilingual anchor and investigative reporter at KGNS-TV in Laredo, Texas — experience that continues to shape her approach to inclusive, accessible storytelling.
Jenn’s dedication to ethical reporting and her ongoing contributions to Philadelphia media make her an exemplary recipient of this year’s honor.
The 2025 Pepperpot Awards invite PR professionals, students, and supporters to come together for a night that celebrates creativity, excellence, and the power of communication.
Whether or not you submitted a project, you won’t want to miss this year’s event — a chance to gather with colleagues, recognize standout work, and honor the individuals shaping the future of Philadelphia’s PR community.
