PHILADELPHIA — The Pittsburgh Penguins made the big recall Monday morning, calling up Rutger McGroarty from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
The Penguins also recalled tough guy Boko Imama.
McGroarty, 21, played in eight NHL games last season, including five near the end of the season, for which he drew rave reviews.
In his inaugural NHL debut season, McGroarty had one goal and three assists. The winger missed training camp and preseason with an upper-body injury. He made his season debut with the WBS Penguins, notching four goals and three assists in five games.
Imama is known primarily for his pugilistic skills, but played 16 games for the Penguins last season, scoring one goal and earning 30 penalty minutes.
