Nationally, online shoppers were expected to spend more than $14 billion on Cyber Monday, and that online surge is, of course, reaching the Lehigh Valley.
“Talking quarter zips, sweatshirts, T-shirts, basically anything and everything will fit somebody’s tastes,” said Sam Jellinek, media relations manager for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.
Cyber Monday has become a busy day for IronPigs fans to grab merch.
“We made it really easy this year. We just went ahead and went blanket 20% off with code HAMBONE online,” Jellinek said.
Fans can shop from home, have items shipped, or stop by the team store to browse.
“People during the off season will shop online a lot more. It’s far easier that way,” Jellinek says. “It allows us to expand our horizons to, you know, fans all across the country as well.”
The IronPigs say it’s important to get gear into as many fans’ hands as possible.
“Sales so far this year are looking strong,” Jellinek explains. “The 20% off code does run through (Tuesday) as well. So, you know, if you haven’t gotten your shopping done yet, there’s still a chance to do it.”
The Phantoms are also in on the action, offering deals online and in their newly opened store.
“We have a pretty big sale of apparel. So, we have 35% off apparel, 20% off our premier items,” said Fernando Guzman, Lehigh Valley Phantoms retail merchandise manager. “With code CPHAN, so C-P-H-A-N, and that’s going to be extended until (Tuesday) at midnight.”
The Phantoms say their store was jam-packed the whole weekend.
“Today our store was closed, but our online store had some really good energy,” Guzman explains. “Without the fans, the Phantoms wouldn’t be a part of it. So we want people to be able to rock the merch, but also show us some appreciation to the fans.”
Cyber Monday, a connection with fans and real deals.
