A beloved cornerstone of Chinatown and one of Philly’s most recognizable nightlife institutions is preparing for its final curtain call. Tango, located at 1021 Arch Street, will close its doors this weekend after 15 years of music, karaoke, industry nights, and late-night memories.
For over a decade and a half, Tango operated as both a karaoke bar and nightlife lounge, attracting a loyal following of partygoers, service-industry regulars, and visiting entertainers. From celebrity guest bartenders to themed celebrations, the venue became a fixture in the city’s after-hours scene — a place where friendships formed, performances went viral, and countless nights turned into morning stories.
Co-owners Kenny Poon and Dave Tiang opened Tango with the hope of creating a welcoming, energetic space for nightlife lovers across the city. As they reflect on the venue’s final days, Tiang shared:
“Tango was never just a bar — it was a home base for our friends, our staff, and the entire nightlife community. We built this place with love, and what we received back was even greater. The energy, the laughter, the music, the people… it’s been unforgettable. We hope everyone comes out one last time so we can celebrate these memories together and send Tango off the right way.”- stated co-owners Kenny Poon & Dave Tiang (Poon Taing).
Closing Weekend: A 3-Day Farewell Celebration
Tango will host one final weekend of festivities from Thursday, December 4 through Saturday, December 6, inviting guests, longtime regulars, and industry friends to celebrate the end of an era.

As Tango prepares for its closing weekend, the owners encourage all who ever stepped inside — for a drink, a song, a celebration, or simply a night out with friends — to come by and be part of its final goodbye.
“Pass the word one last time. Book your tables now. We hope to see everyone for our last weekend.”
After 15 incredible years, Tango’s legacy will live on in the memories, melodies, and community it built in the heart of Chinatown.
