Jack Sawyer was not happy with how Steelers fans reacted to Sunday’s loss.

During the second half of the Steelers’ 26-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills, fans took it out on their head coach.

“Fire Tomlin” chants flooded parts of the stadium with the Steelers on their way to back-to-back losses.

“You’re frustrated because that’s bullshit when people are saying that, but we’re not playing up to our standard,” Sawyer told the media.

Pittsburgh (6-6) has lost five of its last seven games and is tied with Baltimore (6-6) for first place in the AFC North. The Bengals (4-8) are not far behind.

The Steelers allowed an Acrisure Stadium record 249 rushing yards to the Bills, including 144 yards by James Cook. It was the most allowed by the Steelers at home since O.J. Simpson and the Bills ran for 310 yards at Three Rivers Stadium in 1975.

Buffalo entered the game as the NFL’s best rushing offense but took the Steelers defense to a new level.

“We need to take ownership as players and go out there and play a lot better,” Sawyer said.

Buffalo had the ball for 42 minutes and totaled 372 yards, to the Steelers’ 166.

Pittsburgh has the 29th-ranked offense and 28th-ranked defense in the NFL.

The problems unfortunately go much deeper than the play on the field, evident in Tomlin chants and booing Renegade. If the Steelers don’t make drastic changes in the future, things are only going to get worse and worse… and potentially worse.
