Everyone is invited and every child will get a toy at this Saturday’s Christmas party in Scranton.
SCRANTON, Pa. — Two years ago Bianca Waltos was living in a tent in Wilkes-Barre. One day, employees from Junken Monkeys were there giving people food, and Bianca was curious.
“They took care of me, asked me if I needed anything and I said a job! Â So that brought me here and it’s been all good since,” Bianca Waltos said.
Bianca has been working for the home cleanout and junk removal business ever since. Â She now has her own apartment and has turned her life around. Â It’s a similar story for many of the employees at Junken Monkeys, as well as Owner Brian Kerrigan, who has been in recovery for 27 years.
“Been in all sorts of trouble but my life was changed and my duty is to change others’ lives the best I can and giving back is part of the 12 steps,” Brian Kerrigan said.
Kerrigan and his team are giving back in a big way this weekend with their annual Christmas party. Â Santa will arrive on a fire truck and every child will be given a gift. Â There will be donuts, coffee, face painting, and a magician. Â Everyone is invited.
“Anyone from anywhere and if you can’t get here we will send an Uber or we will come and get you ourselves,” Kerrigan said.
Kerrigan says there were more than 500 people at Junken Monkeys’ Halloween event. Â
“We put a specific percentage of profits away a year for our Halloween event, our clothing event and our Christmas event,” Kerrigan said.
Employees are looking forward to making Christmas special for children in the Scranton community.
“Very, very excited. Â It’s really great to be able to do that,” Waltos said.
The Christmas party is Saturday, December 6, at 11 am at one of Junken Monkeys’ properties in Scranton. Â The address is 1124 West Market Street.
