MONROE, La. (KNOE) – Three churches in Winnsboro will be putting on a live recreation of Joseph and Mary’s Journey to Bethlehem.
Church leaders joined Good Morning ArkLaMiss to tells us more!
The event is open for drive-thru viewing on Dec. 6 and Dec. 7 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
This is the second year that First Methodist Church, First Baptist Church and St. Mary’s Catholic Church are coming together to put on the event.
They say the event will contain 10 live recreations depicting important moments relating to the birth of Jesus.
The scenes will start with Gabriel appearing to Mary, and end in the manger after Jesus is born.
The event is free, but organizers will be accepting donations to benefit two non-profit organizations in the community: CHOW-Franklin and FACES of Franklin.
FACES of Franklin is a nonprofit organization that collaborates with schools in Franklin Parish to identify vulnerable youth and then assists the school, student and family to connect with the appropriate community resources and local systems that can provide the care that they need.
CHOW-Franklin is a nonprofit organization that provides “Chow-Kits” to all public school students in Franklin Parish who are identified by the school as being at risk of hunger. There is not a set number of kits delivered to each school; rather, the number fluctuates to meet the needs of each individual school to ensure that issues of child hunger in our parish are addressed. CHOW-Franklin has served over 1,963 students by delivering over 69,893 Chow-Kits and over 667,620 food items. The Franklin Parish Sheriff’s Office assists by delivering the kits to the schools each week, and volunteers meet to prepare the kits for the schools.
