The family of Marchello Woodard, the Erie man shot and killed during a parole compliance check last July, is taking a new approach to seek answers.
The victim’s son, Malakai Woodard, has started an online petition on MoveOn.org calling for an independent investigation into Marchello’s death. This effort follows months of demonstrations and calls for transparency.
Currently, the Erie County Detective’s Office and Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the case. Erie County District Attorney Beth Hirz has stated she will decide what happens next based on their findings and the law.
We reached out to the DA’s office to ask if there is a timetable for releasing findings or a ruling in the case. So far, there has been no response.
