Six people were displaced when a fire destroyed a mobile home Tuesday night in Northampton County.
Crews were sent to a mobile home community on Hickory Hill Drive in Moore Township about 10:15 p.m. for a report of a fire, according to a news release from Klecknersville Rangers Volunteer Fire Co.
Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the home. Additionally, fire was burning under the home, making the floor unstable, the release states.
The fire company said the home is a total loss, and the neighboring home sustained heat damage. Several residents left their homes during the fire because of the smoke conditions throughout the mobile home park. The Red Cross is helping six people who were displaced.
A dog was rescued by residents, however several cats were not accounted for as of early Wednesday morning, according to the fire company. Firefighters stayed at the scene until about 1:45 a.m.
Crews from Bath, Bushkill Township, East Allen Township, Lehigh Township and Nazareth helped battle the blaze. A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause.
