PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania swimming programs are back in action this weekend, heading to the Big Al Invitational hosted by Princeton University, Thursday, Dec. 4, until Saturday, Dec. 6.
 
The Field
Penn will compete against Princeton, Columbia, George Washington, and West Virginia (diving only) in Old Nassau.
 
Quaker Notemeal (M)
*Sophomore Watson Nguyen claimed Penn’s sole event victory in Ithaca, with a 53.65 in the 100 breast. He also swam a 2:00.16 PR in the 200 breaststroke.
 
*Peter Whittington had a strong performance in breaststroke, getting second place in the 200 yard with a 1:56.52.
 
*Henry Guo led the butterfly for Penn getting a 48.71 in the 100 yard and a 1:46.99 in the 200 yard for second place.
 
*Eddie Jin is Penn’s top freestyle competitor achieving a 44.19 in the 100 yard. He also swam a 1:36.40 PR in the 200 yard.
 
*In the 50 freestyle Liam Campbell achieved third place with a 4:30.66.
 
*James Curreri leads the backstroke for Penn with a 49.32 PR in the 100 yard and a 1:47.12 PR in the 200 yard. He also achieved third place in the 500 yard freestyle with a 4:30.66.
 
*In the 400 yard free relay, Penn’s Jin, Campbell, Ryan McGuirk, and Alex Fu achieved third place with a final time of 2:58.01.
 
*On the diving board, Jack Handelman delivered a seventh-place finish in the 3-meter dive with a score of 254.15 and Victor Dang garnered a sixth-place finish in the 1-meter dive with a 238.60 score.
 
Quaker Notemeal (W)
*Against Cornell and Princeton, Kayla Fu Won both the 100 free and 100 fly for Penn with times of 48.90 and 52.89 respectively. She also landed second place in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.81.
 
*Brianna Cong won the 200 backstroke with a 1:55.17. She also took second place in the 100 with a 53.63
 
*Sydney Bergstrom earned second place in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 9:46.47. She also took third place in the 500 with a 4:51.54.
 
*Anna Moehn had similar success getting second in the 500 freestyle with a 4:48.41 and third in the 1000 with a 9:49.71.
 
*Katya Eruslanova achieved second place in the 200 free and third in the 200 IM with respective times of 1:49.13 and 2:02.15.
 
*In the 200 medley relay, Penn’s Amy Qin, Kate Handley, Amber Smith, and sophomore Fu achieved third place with a final time of 1:41.00
*In the 400 free relay, Penn placed second with a final time of 3:22.31 by Connie Wang, Amber Smith, Qin, and Cong.
 
*On the diving board, Saddie Howard landed fifth place in the 3-meter dive with a score of 249.90 followed by Rachel Yang in sixth place with a 248.20 score. On the 1-meter dive, Caroline Holcomb scored 244.15 for fifth place.
