Betsy Hyers, 65, of Clarks Summit, PA, passed away peacefully at home on November 30, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Scranton on January 28, 1960, Betsy was the daughter of Estelle (Luger) Freedman and the late Wesley Freedman. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and earned her B.A. from Ithaca College and her M.B.A. from Syracuse University.
Betsy was a loving wife and mother whose presence was a constant source of encouragement and warmth. Her children will forever cherish the memory of her unwavering support: cheering at every tennis match, celebrating every academic milestone, and gathering the family each evening around a home-cooked meal.
To her friends, Betsy was a loyal, thoughtful, and irreplaceable companion. Her bubbly spirit, sense of humor, and impeccable style made everyone around her feel welcomed and uplifted. She had a gift for making ordinary moments feel special.
Betsy embraced life deeply and fully. She cared for her health with dedication—exercising daily through her workouts at Allied Services, yoga practice, and time spent on the treadmill. She was equally enthusiastic about life’s pleasures, often raising a glass with the cheerful reminder, “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere.” She loved her trips to New York City, where she delighted in revisiting her favorite places. She also had a special fondness for Frank Sinatra, whose music often filled her home.
Betsy is survived by her husband of 38 years, Robert Hyers; her children, son Benjamin Hyers and his wife, Haley, and their daughter, Jane; and daughter Elizabeth Hyers Gerzof and her husband, Devin. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Lerner.
