BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — Work has begun on the new Imagination Land Playground.
Township officials said construction has started on the playground replacement project, which has been two years in the making.
“The current structure has served us well, but it’s time for something new and fun for kids of all ages,” officials said.
The project’s completion will be weather-dependent, officials said.
The project was conceived two years ago as officials formulated design ideas with General Recreation Inc.
Since then, project designs were set in January 2024, with the council approving the project in May. In November 2024, a $386,300 grant from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) was awarded.
The new playground will focus on accessibility with modern equipment and updated safety surfaces— a space where families can enjoy, play, and explore together.
Officials said the new playground will feature equipment for all children, including an ADA-accessible carousel, adaptive swing/zip line seats, ADA belt ladders, and sensory stations, to name a few.
During construction, the playground will be closed for everyone’s safety.
