BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bethlehem is getting ready for America’s 250th birthday next year.

Members of the group “America250PA” were at Moravian University on Wednesday, where they unveiled a custom-designed bell sculpture.

It was created by local artist Ted Colegrove, and is part of a statewide public art series commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States.

“Local communities are the lifeblood of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, so to be able to tell those stories on a more localized level, which are the contributions to the overall, Pennsylvanian-American story,” said Cassandra Coleman, executive director of America250PA.

Organizers say this bell is one of 108 that will be placed throughout the state as part of a “Bells Across Pennsylvania” trail.
