EASTON, Pa. – The Easton Planning Commission on Wednesday night granted preliminary land development approval for a six-story, mixed-use building at 509-519 Northampton St.
The proposal calls for a 50 dwelling units encompassing the entire area and 75 feet in height. A total of 45 of the units will be one bedroom, with the remaining five designated for two-bedroom units.
The plan proposes 790-square-feet of commercial space on the first floor, with 20 off-street parking spaces located on the first floor underneath the building. The applicant has also entered into a lease agreement for 10 additional off-street parking spaces on Church Street.
A public comment session featured nearby property owners who spoke against the plan. One told the board they were currently in litigation and requested the commission table the item. Another individual said, in his opinion, the plan was non-compliant with the city’s comprehensive plan.
The 517-519 property had been previously listed for development by the city as a Local Economic Revitalization Tax Assistance, or LERTA, property.
