A cold front is expected to drop temperatures to near record-breaking levels Thursday night into Friday morning in the Lehigh Valley.

The National Weather Service is predicting a low of 12 overnight, which is very close to the record of 11 set nearly 100 years ago in 1926.

Forecasters said temperatures will take “quite a tumble” overnight, dropping from the high 30s down to the low teens. Temperatures have not been that low in the Lehigh Valley since the beginning of the year.

Winds should die down overnight, according to the weather service. Low temperatures over the weekend will be slightly warmer, in the upper teens to low 20s.. High temperatures will likely remain in the 30s, forecasters said.

🌅 Rise and shine! The main weather feature today is an Arctic cold front that will move through around midday. Behind the front, temps will begin to plummet with wind gusts up to 25-35 mph.
