Basket raffle to benefit Toys for Tots: Dunmore VFW Post 3474 basket raffle benefiting Toys for Tots, Sunday, 3-7 p.m. Kids Corner will have free hot chocolate and cookies for kids, coloring and writing letters to Santa, and Frank Gervasi will be playing Christmas carols all afternoon. The event is open to the public.

Christmas light parade: Jermyn Christmas Light Parade will be held Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. with Santa and Mrs. Claus. This year’s theme is “A Rockin ‘n Rollin with Santa.” Parade beginning at the corner of Washington Avenue and Rushbrook Street (Route 107), proceeding down Washington to Maple Street, ending at the Artisan Fire Company with hot chocolate and cookies with Santa; all are welcome. For residents who want to participate in the light parade, assembly will be on Chestnut (old Bonnie Drive) Street. Assemble for parade at 5:30 p.m. at Chestnut Street adjacent to Exit 5, Route 107. Parade and refreshments sponsored by the Jermyn Shade Tree Commission.

Lackawanna County

Holiday extravaganza: Rossetti Foundation for the Arts and Culture Holiday Extravaganza will be held Dec. 19 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Rossetti Estate, 1005 Vine St., Scranton. Pianist Ken McGraw and other local performers will offer holiday cheer while you enjoy food and drink. Cathy Rist Strauch is mistress of ceremonies and will perform, along with Frank Carey and special featured performers of Mostly Opera, including tenors Jan Clairmont and Ben Knox; mezzo-sopranos Emilia Policare and Mary Scheller; and sopranos Christiana Gearon and Anne Marie Dupre. Caterers from Mondano of Old Forge will provide several appetizers to make this evening special. Guests will also be invited to sing some well-known Christmas carols. Homemade cookies include wedding, ricotta, thumbprint, pepper, chocolate chip, peanut butter kisses and nut rugelach. Cost is $12 per pound.
