BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Erie County Water Authority (ECWA) says they have been receiving messages from customers regarding the smell and taste of the water.

According to the ECWA, it’s a common occurrence this time of year.  They said in a social media post on Sunday that there are naturally occurring conditions that cause compounds to be produced that impact odor and taste.

The ECWA says these conditions are harmless and pose no threat to the health and safety of humans and pets.

Erie County Water Authority has received inquiries from customers regarding concerns about water taste and odor.
