OBITUARY

In Loving Memory of Kathy (Pauley) Bickel March 5, 1956 – August 19, 2025

Kathy Bickel, 69, of Reading, PA, passed away, surrounded by her family at Reading

Hospital. Born and raised in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Janet

(Eddinger) Hine and Marcellus Pauley. She was a graduate of Twin Valley High School

and was a gifted athlete; earning three presidential awards and named leading scorer

and county all-star for field hockey. Kathy also excelled in track and field and basketball

and was the lead flag and baton twirler in marching band.

Kathy found joy in cooking, baking, listening to music, reading, playing cards, and

cheering on her two favorite teams: the Phillies and Eagles. She had a strong faith and

found pleasure in listening to bible lessons daily. Kathy loved decorating and

celebrating holidays. But, most of all, she loved conversating and spending time with

her family.

She dedicated much of her life working as a waitress; most recently at Wyomissing

Family Restaurant, where she formed lasting bonds with coworkers and customers

alike. Kathy will be remembered for her kind heart, selflessness, generosity, and desire

to help others in any way that she could.

She is survived by her sister Bonnie Beiler, wife of Jeffrey Beiler, brother, Ronald

Pauley, children Amy Kauffman, and partner, Jan Kootstra, daughter, Nina Bickel, and

son, Edward Bickel Jr., eight grandchildren: Donavin Grinnage, Araya Grinnage,

Savana Grinnage, Lana Bickel, Gabriel Kauffman, Carlos Montalvo , David Muniz, and

Yomaris Ortega, Along with three great-grandchildren: Quentin, Jaliza, and Kaylani.

She was predeceased by her sister Michelle Quinter and brother Donald Boyer Jr. A

private family viewing will be held on August 23, 2025 followed by a Celebration Of Life

at a later date to be determined. Kathy’s family will miss her dearly and her legacy will

live on in the hearts of family and loved ones always.
