Residents in Hellertown no longer need to boil their water before they drink it.
The borough said Tuesday that the boil water advisory, which went into effect Thursday and was extended over the weekend, has been lifted.
The advisory was issued Thursday after a water main break was discovered on a golf course in the borough. The break caused a loss of pressure in the system.
Samples were sent to a lab over the weekend to determine if the water was safe to consume. A power outage there made the samples unusable for testing, and the borough had to send new samples.
The borough said in a notification to residents Tuesday that the required sampling and testing by the Department of Environmental Protection was completed, and the advisory was lifted.
