A popular distillery themed after the Salem witch trials will close later this month in Allentown, nearly eight years after opening.

Gallows Hill Spirits Co. announced it will close Dec. 28.

“This has been a long-fought battle, and despite every effort, we have simply run out of runway,” the distillery said in the announcement. “Over the past eight years, we’ve built more than a business — we’ve built communities, friendships, and memories that will stay with us forever. Everyone who has been part of this journey will be deeply missed. We will maintain our normal operating hours throughout December, and we hope to see many of you before we say goodbye. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support, your encouragement, and the wonderful moments we’ve shared. It has meant more to me than you know.”

The distillery opened at 2200 S. 12th St. in 2018 under Bob Piano, whose ancestor Samuel Wardwell was reportedly hanged for accusations of witchcraft in 1692 in Salem.
