READING, Pa. – “Donnie Baseball” met fans and talked about his wide-ranging career in the Majors in Reading on Friday.
Former Yankees first baseman Don Mattingly spoke at the DoubleTree.
This is the 17th annual Holiday Benefit Luncheon put on by the Law Foundation of Berks County and the Institute of CPA’s.
Mattingly most recently served on the Toronto Blue Jays coaching staff.
He’s up for a spot in the Hall of Fame this weekend.
“Well, I don’t know what to expect. I’ve been on, I’ve been on that. I guess I don’t know if I’ve been nominated a couple different times,” Mattingly said. “I think you get where you’re just like not really wanting to put too much out there, just, you know, you kind of hope for the best and you know it that that’s pretty much it.”
Mattingly also had high praise for Boyertown area native and Blue Jays pitcher Trey Yesavage who had an impressive showing leading up to and during the World Series.
