The Michigan Wolverines eye another upset against one of the best in the nation on Saturday, as they take on the Pittsburgh Panthers in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament.

The Wolverines already have a notable win on their record this postseason. After squeaking into the big dance, Michigan came away with a straight-sets win over the sixth-seeded Xavier Musketeers on Friday night, giving the team its first win in the national tournament since 2019.

The Wolverines managed to earn an at-large bid after a rough end to their regular season. After an impressive six-match win streak earlier in November, Michigan ended up losing its final two matches, falling to both UCLA and USC, leading to a ninth-place finish in the Big Ten.

The maize and blue now look for their first Sweet 16 berth since 2018.

It will not be easy, as they are tasked with facing the top team in their region. The Panthers entered the tournament after winning the ACC Championship for the fourth year in a row. Pitt, who took care of UMBC in straight sets in the opening round, made it all the way to the final four last year.
