Honesdale wrestlers Nathan and Dominic Schuman captured titles in their respective weight classes to lead the Hornets to the Darren Klingerman Invitational crown Saturday at Bloomsburg High School.

Nathan Schuman, a state qualifier and regional champion last season, rolled to the 114-pound final with three first-period pins before defeating Hanover Area’s Chase Smith, 19-3, by technical fall in the final.

Dominic Schuman had three pins and a 17-2 tech. fall in the final to capture the 107 title.

Duke Martin (189) finished second, Brody Walsh (127) and Bobby MacDowell (285) placed third, Levi Landry (215) finished fourth, Sam Eisele (133) took fifth, Justin Scanlon (145) secured sixth and Connor Scanlon (139) placed seventh as the Hornets compiled 218 points.

Abington Heights placed second with 162 points, led by Mason Whitney who captured the 139 title. The Comets junior had three pins and a 20-3 tech. fall in the final to roll to the title.

Brady Full (133) and Lucas Drake (160) each placed second, Frank Scialpi (215) finished third and Dakota Sandy (114), Jason Beck (133), Adam Dickson (152) and Coen Holland (172) secured sixth for Abington Heights.

Tom Best Memorial Top Hat Tournament

Mid Valley’s Matthew Almedina placed second at 139 as the Spartans placed 19th at the Tom Best Memorial Top Hat Tournament at Williamsport High School.

Almedina went 3-1 with a tech. fall and two decisions, before losing to Mifflinburg’s Ben Straub, 4-2, in the final.

Scranton placed 23rd.

Rocket Duals

West Scranton went 2-3 at the Rocket Duals at Spring Grove High School.

The Invaders beat Waynesboro (34-32) and Kutztown (59-18) and lost to Spring Grove (58-14), Hempfield (40-35) and Boiling Springs (36-29).

Connor Lagier, Julian Lagier and Tommy Schechterly each went 5-0, Santino Aniska went 3-1 and Jonyae Sostre went 3-2 for West Scranton.

Battle on the Delaware

Zion Colon (121), Andrew Elliott (127) and Jeremiah Segal (189) captured titles to lead Delaware Valley to a third-place finish at Battle on the Delaware at Delaware Valley High School.

Bangor compiled 195 points to win the tournament, and Bethlehem Freedom placed second with 183 points ahead of the Warriors’ 162.5 points.

Colon had a tech. fall, decision and major decision en route to the title, Elliott had two pins and Segal had a decision and two tech. falls. Drew Churchill (139) placed second, Jack Kahmar (107), Brennan Snyder (133) and Ethan Capo (215) finished third, Justin Santiago (121) and Michael Seltzer (285) placed fourth, Colton Eckert (152), Brady Babcok (160) and Marley McAfee (172) secured fifth and Joe Davila (145) and Nick D’Ambola (172) took sixth for Delaware Valley.

Gavin Morcom secured a pin and a tech. fall to capture the title at 172 and lead Western Wayne to a fourth-place finish.

R.J. Walton (133) and Paul Borowski (285) placed second, Hunter Rodger (152) finished third, Mason Simpson (114) took fourth, David Skelton (139) secured fifth, Chase Knecht (127), Ryan Stokesberry (160) and Ashton Jones (189) placed sixth and Riley Dunn (215) finished eighth for the Wildcats.

Caden Hall (114) and Tyler Matay (160) finished second to lead North Pocono to a sixth-place finish. Kayden Radice (145) placed third, Nick Rought (152) and Matthew Howe (172) finished fourth, Shane Kearney (121), Julian Radice (133), Merrick Young (139) and Joshua Magnotta (215) took sixth and Josef Wolff (189) secured seventh for the Trojans.

Riley Borruso (133) had a tech. fall and a pin to capture a title as Lackawanna Trail placed seventh. Matthew Shafer (121) finished second, Joseph Thomas (127) and Joshua Fowler (139) took fourth and Payton Laytos (152) secured sixth for the Lions.

Gary Woodruff Memorial Duals

Wallenpaupack went 5-1 at the Gary Woodruff Memorial Duals at Wyalusing High School.

The Buckhorns beat Nanticoke Area (71-4), Blue Ridge (73-0), Wyalusing (46-25), Montrose (68-6) and Benton (56-9), and lost to Bellefonte (33-30).

Ayden Blaut, Giovanni Lomonaco, Sawyer Jones and Gabe Caufield each went 6-0, while Declan Brown, Kyle Scartelli, Tristan Braxton and Jake Rafferty went 5-1 for Wallenpaupack.

Girls

Rheagan Wargo (100), Trinity Leonard (106) and Mia Gifford (112) each captured titles to lead Western Wayne to a second-place finish at Battle on the Delaware at Delaware Valley High School.

Wargo had two pins and a decision for the title, Leonard had a pin and Gifford had a tech. fall and a pin.

Adysen Wargo (136) placed second, Sophie Markulin (142) and Meghan Rath (170) finished third, Katelyn Nunez (124) took fourth, Morgan Malloy secured sixth and Giana Grasi finished eighth for the Lady ‘Cats, who finished with 131.5 points. Hazleton Area won the tournament with 136 points.

Mya Viera (100), Anabelle Viera (106), Kylie Pearce (112), Olivia Larsen (118), Safaa Sameeuddin (142) and Ella Smith (148) placed second to lead Delaware Valley to a third-place finish.

Taylor Yablonski (118) took third, Kayla Gamer (130) secured fourth, Alexa Smith (130) and Keira Snyder (136) finished fifth and Riley McHenry (124) placed sixth for the Lady Warriors.

Saige Olver (124) and Maddison Miller (148) each had three first-period pins to roll to titles, with Olver earning Most Outstanding Wrestler.

Alexa Skelton (118), Leonora Orellana Anton (170) and Dana Martin (235) placed fourth, Isabel Whalen (142) finished sixth and Allison Brescia (136) took eighth for the Lady Hornets who finished in sixth.

Alexis Lamolly (190) placed second for Valley View, who finished seventh. Ashley Conserette (130) secured third, Lucy Ritzco (136) and Amsi Garriga-Diaz (142) finished fourth, Kerrigan Sprague (118), Taylor Shaheen (124) and Faith Ambrister (148) placed fifth and Emily Claps (130) took sixth for the Cougars.
