While Pitt employees seeking assistance from the Office of Human Resources can still interact with team members, a new, artificial intelligence-driven Employee Virtual Assistant (EVA) chat agent is now available to offer “nearly instantaneous responses” to user inquiries 24 hours a day, seven days a week, eliminating the need to wait for an HR representative reply.

In a recent statement, Human Resources called EVA an “innovative tool” and a “significant leap forward” in its commitment to “leveraging technology to enhance the user experience.”

To access EVA and Pittsy Payroll, its Payroll Department counterpart, visit any HR or Payroll webpage and click the spinning icon in the lower right corner of the screen, followed by the “Start Chat” button.

“We encourage employees to provide feedback during their interactions with EVA” to expand and evolve its knowledge base, OHR said in a statement. “If EVA cannot locate the information you seek, it will offer the option to submit an online inquiry for additional support.”

A collaborative endeavor between Pitt Digital, SkillBuilder.io, Human Resources and Payroll, EVA is meant to ensure the chat agent has comprehensive, up-to-date institutional knowledge, the announcement said. It has undergone extensive training using a diverse range of resources, including all University HR and Payroll web pages, policy and procedure documentation, existing knowledge-based articles, and input from HR and Payroll representatives.

“We anticipate that EVA will significantly improve the employee experience by offering you timely, on-demand assistance and support,” the HR statement said.
