MACUNGIE, Pa. – Inside Jerusalem Salisbury Church in Salisbury Township, the sounds of the Macungie Band filled the air on Sunday.

It was the third annual Christmas concert.

Parish Coordinator Linda Held said the goal is to support the Angel Tree Project.

“Which is to help students in the Salisbury School District who have some food insecurities, etc,” said Held.

Band director Mike Moran said the concert features Christmas music of all kinds.

“We do a lot of familiar work, a lot of holiday selections that most people would recognize- some Broadway, some movie themes,” said Moran.

It is a concert that supports the community one beat at a time.

“It’s a joy to bring joy to so many people who really enjoy what we do and how well we do it,” said Moran.

Held said proceeds are used to buy grocery store gift cards that go out to families in need.

“It kind of goes on throughout the whole school year. We’re in touch with the social worker of the school and they receive them and disperse them as they need to be dispersed,” said Held. “It’s been overwhelming the thank yous that we get back from the school for our participation as a church community and being able to help them out,” said Held.
