The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in District 10 said public voting will open today for this year’s Paint the Plow program.
Paint the Plow is a statewide initiative that highlights safe winter driving while showcasing the artistic talents of students across Pennsylvania. This year’s theme, “Don’t race. Allow some space,” encourages motorists to keep a safe distance from plows and other vehicles during winter weather conditions.
Earlier this year, students from Allegheny-Clarion Valley, Redbank Valley, Union, Keystone, Indiana Area, Penns Manor Area, Apollo-Ridge, and River Valley school districts along with Jefferson County-DuBois AVTS (Jeff Tech) put their creativity to work, transforming PennDOT plow blades.
This year, the public is invited to vote for their favorite design through an online survey posted on the Penn-DOT website www.penndot.pa.gov/PaintthePlow. The voting form can be found by clicking on the county names within the table. Participation is limited to one vote per person per district.
Voting runs from Monday through Saturday of next week, Dec. 8-14. The plow with the most votes in each district will earn the title of “Fan Favorite.”
Winners will be announced later in December.
Students and schools are encouraged to share the voting link to rally support. While PennDOT may share photos on its regional and statewide Facebook pages, only votes submitted through the official survey will count.
