An afternoon of holiday shopping likely turned into an unhappy memory for some customers who police say were harassed by a man with a sex toy at an area retail center.

According to Upper Saucon Township Police, officers responding to a “disturbance” at the Promenade Saucon Valley shortly after 5 p.m. Dec. 1 were directed to a man in a vehicle who had allegedly been waving the object at female shoppers.
In a Crimewatch post, police identified the man as 41-year-old Melvin G. Barillas Pinto of Easton, and said officers determined that he was under the influence of alcohol.
Barillas Pinto is charged with two counts of DUI, three counts of open lewdness, three counts of harassment, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and careless driving, according to the docket filed in his case in Lehigh County District Court 31-3-03 in Coopersburg.
A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Jan. 22 in the Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas in Allentown.
The docket did not list an attorney for Barillas Pinto.
