PALMER TWP., Pa. – The holiday shopping season is in full swing, and individuals looking to score deals on clothing, home décor and other items have a new destination to check out in Northampton County.

Last Call Closeouts, offering a mix of deep discounts on brand-name overstock alongside unique estate furniture and other finds, held a soft opening on Saturday at 3143 William Penn Highway in Palmer Township, owner Lisa Carvalho told 69 News.

James Balliet and Benjamin Diaz of The James Balliet Property Group represented the landlord in the deal.

“The feedback has been really great,” Carvalho said.

“A lot of people are finding the perfect Christmas gifts, and everyone’s loving the prices because they’re prices you just can’t beat. We have a lot of brand-new appliances at 60% off their sale prices. So, we sold a lot appliances this weekend, along with household items, toys and cleaning products.”

Customers can browse a rotating selection of high-quality liquidation items, including furniture, bedding, housewares, kitchenware, children’s toys, pet products, sporting goods, tools and garden accessories and lawn items, Carvalho said.

A wide variety of small appliances include air fryers, blenders, microwave ovens, toaster ovens, waffle makers, mixers and vacuums, among other items.

The store also carries men’s, women’s and children’s apparel, along with footwear and fashion accessories such as shoes, slippers and handbags.

“I’m really excited about this store because who doesn’t like a deal?” Carvalho said.

“Seriously, who wants to pay full price for anything? I know I get excited when I find a deal. It could be a discounted appliance that I need for the house or a fine piece of furniture at a fraction of its original full price.”

Carvalho is sourcing closeout and liquidation items from a variety of well-known department stores and retailers.

Pieces come from companies’ overstock, customer returns and shelf pulls, with the latter being items that are pulled from shelves to make way for new inventory.

“We’ll have extremely good deals,” Carvalho said. “We’ll have brand-new items that are 50% off the lowest price you can find elsewhere.”

Carvalho, of Bethlehem, has a longtime passion for scouting out unique furniture while also scoring deals.

Earlier this year, she started purchasing liquidation pallets out of sheer curiosity.

With help and inspiration from her husband, Francisco Carvalho, she took the leap into retail with her first brick-and-mortar store.

“I recently started getting into liquidation pallets because I have a curious mind,” Carvalho said.

“I wanted to know what are they all about, what are the items on them and what are the discounts. After I got a good handle on them, my husband said I need to put my passion and business sense together with my own store. He’s my biggest supporter, and without him, this wouldn’t be possible.”

The new store is “your ultimate treasure hunt destination,” offering bargains and savings on a constantly changing selection of high-quality items, according to a description on the business’ website.

“We purchase liquidation pallets from many large retailers that contain brand-name products in new and or like new condition for the savvy shopper that provides a constantly revolving treasure hunt of goods at clearance prices,” the message continues.

Shoppers can browse furniture for the living room, bedroom, dining room and office, along with other home décor such as lamps, clocks and wall art.

In addition to closeout and liquidation items, the new Palmer store carries a variety of antique and one-of-a-kind furniture pieces, Lisa said.

Shoppers also can check out a variety of unique pieces handmade by artisans.

“We’ll have closeout furniture plus antique and estate furniture, along with a little mix of some unusual artist pieces that I’ve gotten from Connecticut, New York City and other places,” she added.

“So, we’ll have a unique mix of one-of-a-kind, high-end furniture, including Italian leather, along with closeout furniture from different retailers.”

Last Call Closeouts’ store operates 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.
