INGLEWOOD, Calif. — After everything that went wrong on Monday night, the Eagles had a chance to escape SoFi Stadium with a win but came up short in overtime. They lost 22-19 to the Chargers.

In a game that featured a ton of turnovers, Jalen Hurts’ interception late in overtime finished off the loss, which was the Eagles’ third straight. They desperately needed to get a win and couldn’t pull it out.

Let’s get to the grades:

Quarterback

Jalen Hurts: 21/40, 240 yards, 4 INTs; passer rating of 31.3, lost fumble

This was an awful game for Hurts, who turned the ball over five times, including twice on one disastrous play. He also threw the game-ending interception late in the overtime period. His passer rating of 31.3 is the fourth-worst in his NFL career as a starter. This was his first-career game with four INTs. Hurts just missed a bunch of throws too and isn’t seeing the field very well. It wasn’t that long ago that we were talking about Hurts possibly getting his name into MVP contention but that seems hard to fathom right now. Hurts had a terrible game on Monday night.

Grade: F

Running back

Saquon Barkley: 20 carries, 122 yards, 1 TD

For just the second time in the 2025 season, the Eagles had a 100+ yard rusher. Barkley’s big run came on a 52-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter off a Tush Push formation. At the time, it seemed like that could be the biggest play of the game for the winning team but things didn’t stay that way. Still, this was a somewhat encouraging performance from Barkley and the Eagles’ run game.

Grade: B

Receiver

A.J. Brown: 6 catches on 13 targets for 100 yards

In the last three weeks, Brown has had 100+ yards and the Eagles are 0-3. While Brown put up big numbers on Monday, he could have had a better performance and failed to haul in three catches we normally see him make. DeVonta Smith had 4 for 37, including a 28-yarder in overtime on what could have been a game-winning drive. Darius Cooper had a 19-yard catch and also had a block that helped spring Barkley on his long touchdown run. Jahan Dotson finished with 1 catch for 3 yards on 3 targets. He was the target for the final INT.

Grade: C+

Tight end

Dallas Goedert: 8 catches on 10 targets for 78 yards

The Eagles were able to get the ball to Goedert a bunch in this game and he did some good things. His 78-yard performance was his second-best output of the season and his best game since a 110-yard effort against the Giants back in early October.

Grade: B

Offensive line

Hurts was sacked just one time in the loss and the Eagles’ OL seemed to do a pretty good job of protecting him in the pocket. While they weren’t back to their dominating level from 2024, the Eagles did have some more success on the ground. Landon Dickerson left with a calf injury but was able to return in the second half to gut it out.

Grade: C+

Defensive line

Jalyx Hunt: 2 1/2 sacks, 8 tackles, 3 QB hits, 1 FF

The Eagles put a ton of pressure on Justin Herbert Monday night facing an offensive line that has been decimated by injuries. Herbert was pressured on 28 of 41 dropbacks (68.3%), per NFL NextGen Stats. That’s the highest pressure rate any quarterback has seen all season. In addition to Hunt’s 2 1/2 sacks, Byron Young and Jordan Davis each had 1 1/2. Those interior guys got pressure without Jalen Carter, who missed this game after having a procedure on both shoulders during the week. Jaelan Phillips had solid pressure all game too. The Eagles used a few edge players inside at times on Monday.

Grade: A

Linebacker

Nakobe Dean: 7 tackles, 1 sack, 2 QB hits, 1 TFL, 1 FF

While Nakobe Dean did get caught flat-footed on a big pass play of 60-yard to Kimani Vidal, he rebounded nicely and continues to be a terror as a blitzed through the A-gap. Dean had another sack and should have had a second. Zack Baun had 8 tackles and half a sack. Jihaad Campbell got some playing time this week too and had a couple tackles.

Grade: A-

Secondary

Reed Blankenship: 8 tackles, 1 TFL

While Herbert was able to make some things happen with his legs as a scrambler, the Eagles’ secondary didn’t make life easy for him. Cooper DeJean and Adoree’ Jackson each had two pass breakups and Jackson had an interception on a tipped pass. DeJean made enough plays that the Eagles fans in attendance could be heard chanting his name.

Grade: A-

Special teams

Britain Covey: 3 punt returns, 54 yards (long of 22)

It’s amazing that the Eagles waited this long to make Covey their punt returner. His 22-yarder on Monday night is the Eagles’ longest of the season. Even when Covey fumbled the ball at one point, he was at least able to jump back on top of it. The coverage units looked good in this game too and Braden Mann averaged 51.7 yards per punt. Jake Elliott did miss a 48-yard field goal in a game where points were at a premium. In the last three weeks, Elliott has missed three field goals and a PAT.

Grade: B

Coaching

Record: 8-5

The Eagles’ offense isn’t fixed but there were actually some encouraging signs on Monday night. Of course, every time it seemed like the Eagles did something good on offense, they took another two steps back. Nick Sirianni was more involved with the offense this week, he confirmed after the game. Did it help? Maybe minimally. The real shame is that the Eagles wasted another stellar showing from Vic Fangio’s defense in a loss.
