WASHINGTON (TNND) — Democrats are plotting to primary and replace Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman in 2028.
Some Democrats who could end up running to primary Fetterman include Reps. Chris Deluzio and Brendan Boyle, Pennsylvania political insiders told the Axios news outlet.
Former Rep. Conor Lamb is another possibility as well.
Fetterman responded to the Axios report in a statement that reads, “Enjoy your clickbait.”
It is also being speculated that Fetterman may run for president in 2028, but he has not confirmed if that is true.
Fetterman recently celebrated for the recent ceasefire in Gaza between Israel and Hamas.
“Peace has to be bipartisan,” he wrote on X. “This is a remarkable development. This is something we all can celebrate and build upon, regardless of the politics.”
He also said he knows and loves people who voted for President Donald Trump, saying they aren’t “fascists” or “Nazis.”
“I’m the only Democrat in my family,” he said during a town hall event, according to Fox News. “I grew up in a conservative part of Pennsylvania. I would never compare anybody, anybody to Hitler, and those things.”
He also argued that the political rhetoric needs to be toned down and that more extreme rhetoric will result in more political violence.
