There could be some snow Wednesday before turning to rain in the Lehigh Valley.

Snow is expected to start in the morning before changing to a wintry mix, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey. That should turn to rain later in the day, forecasters said.

Little, if any, snow accumulation is expected in most of the Lehigh Valley. An inch of snow is possible in the northern parts of the region.

The expected snow Wednesday comes during a very cold period. A low of 8 was recorded Tuesday, nearly reaching a record of 7 set on that day in both 1989 and 2002, according to weather service data.

Temperatures are expected to be warmer, with lows in the 20s, the rest of the week. There is a chance of more snow Friday night.
