Shriners Children’s Erie is proud to announce the appointment of Joshua Pahys, MD as its new chief of staff. Dr. Pahys has been a valued member of the Shriners Children’s family for many years, bringing exceptional clinical expertise, compassion, and a unique personal perspective to his work.
Dr. Pahys’ journey into orthopedics was deeply personal. Diagnosed with scoliosis as a child, he underwent bracing and later spine surgery to remove a tumor. Thanks to outstanding care, he recovered quickly and returned to play college basketball at Johns Hopkins University just months after surgery. This experience inspired him to pursue a career in orthopedics, complete residency training in Philadelphia, and train at Shriners Children’s Philadelphia, where he developed a strong connection to the organization’s mission.
After completing a fellowship in complex spinal surgery, Dr. Pahys joined the Philadelphia spine team in 2010 and expanded his impact by joining Shriners Children’s Erie in 2015. Today, he continues to provide exceptional spine care to children and families across the region — and now steps into this important leadership role.
“I am deeply honored to serve as chief of staff. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to play a role in helping to build on the already strong 100+ year foundation of Shriners Children’s Erie.” — Dr. Joshua Pahys
Dr. Pahys is widely respected for his clinical excellence, strong rapport with patients and families, and collaborative leadership style. His appointment marks an exciting new chapter for Shriners Children’s Erie as the organization continues its mission of providing world-class pediatric care.
