President Donald Trump returned to the campaign trail on Tuesday night, holding a rally in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania.
The event was designed to be a kickoff of Trump’s effort to convince voters that his economic plans are — and will continue to — work.
And Trump read some of those prepared lined about affordability off the teleprompter. But, in a rambling, 97-minute address, he also repeatedly contradicted the lines written for him and insisted everything was actually going really, really well. He also talked about windmills. His favorite words. And, of course, “the weave.”
I went through Trump’s full speech and pulled out the lines you need to see.
To the Lines!
“We’ve got a lot of people standing outside tonight. It’s freezing. They got here yesterday like at 2:00 in the morning or something. Well, I’m worried about them.”
[narrator voice] He is not, in fact, worried about them. And away we go!
“In 2015 I made my first speech and I said we’re going to bring back Christmas. Remember, they wanted to — the radical left wanted to get word of the — they wanted to get rid of the word Christmas. I said, I don’t think that’s going to work out. And we did it and now everybody is saying merry Christmas again.”
Donald Trump saved Christmas! You’re welcome, America.
“We won — and by the way, the real vote was much more than this. But we wanted to make it too big to rig.”
He appears to be saying here that the popular vote in 2024 was somehow rigged — and that he beat Kamala Harris by more. I think?
“I could have had a little differently shaped ear, if it weren’t for you. You know, just — you got very lucky that day.”
Trump is referring to Pennsylvania Sen. Dave McCormick who, at the rally in Butler in 2024, he invited on stage. McCormick stayed put — and then Trump was nearly assassinated. One thing though: Trump’s ear looks totally the same to me after the shooting, right? It does not look misshapen or damaged. I am not in the conspiracy theory camp! I am just saying…
“It’s amazing. You know, they — the word — remember when I said tariff. My favorite word is tariff.”
Just a quick update on Trump’s favorite words (according to Trump): 1) God 2) religion 3) love 4) tariff. That’s it. That’s the list.
