OBITUARY

Girard J. (Jerry) Albrecht, 90, a resident of the East Mountain section, died Sunday at home. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Patricia Sabitus, in 2013. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Edward and Dolores Seasegger Albrecht. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Jerry served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1958 as a Petty Officer 3rd Class at the Willow Grove Naval Station. He then was employed by Jaunty Fabrics as a loom fixer and retired in 1998 as a department manager of the weave shed. After his retirement, he was employed as the maintenance man for Holy Name of Jesus Church for two years. Jerry was very active in Holy Name of Jesus Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister for over 10 Years, and was a major participant in the annual Roast Beef and Spaghetti Dinners. Since 1970, Jerry was a member of St. Mary’s Parish Club.

Surviving are his daughter Joanne Keppley and husband Craig, Lebanon, grandchildren; Grace Keppley, Asheville, NC, Julianna Keppley, Lebanon, Alexander Albrecht, Philadelphia, and Kristen Thames, Lauren Kindle and Ryan Kacafirek, all of Port Huron, MI. And eight great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his son Gary Albrecht and his daughter Karlene A. Albrecht and three brothers; Donald, Joseph and Edward Albrecht.

The funeral will be Saturday at 8:30 AM from the August J. Haas Funeral Home, Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., with Mass of Christian Burial at 9AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., to be celebrated by Msgr. Dale Rupert. Interment St. Mary of the Assumption Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.
