Attempt to end relationship ends with gunfire in Pittsburgh’s Northview Heights neighborhood

Police said an attempt to end a relationship ended with a man being grazed by a bullet in Pittsburgh’s Northview Heights neighborhood.According to a criminal complaint filed against Christopher Howard, 27, of Pittsburgh, the situation unfolded on Thursday night on the 400 block of Mount Pleasant Road.The victim told police he had been in a polyamorous relationship with a woman and another person.The victim told police things had not gone well in the relationship and they decided to break it off and tell the woman to come pick up her belongings.According to the court paperwork, when the woman didn’t show up, the victim began throwing her belongings away.Police said the woman, accompanied by Howard, came to Mount Pleasant Road to confront the victim.Police said the woman and Howard began trying to kick the door down and Howard pulled out a gun.According to police, the victim grabbed a machete for protection and put it next to the door.Police said the victim agreed to fight Howard but later tried to go inside of the home and noticed Howard following them.According to the criminal complaint, when Howard attempted to enter the home, the victim struck him in the face with the machete and tried to close the door as Howard allegedly fired a gunshot.The victim suffered a grazing gunshot wound to the leg and was sent to the hospital.Police also said Howard arrived at a hospital in a private vehicle with a cut to his face. Investigators said he claimed he got the cut while shaving. He’s facing multiple charges.
