State police are offering a $5,000 reward for tips in the killing of supermarket executive Gary Redner outside his home in Lower Heidelberg Township in 2008.

According to the offer posted on the PSP Tips Facebook page, the Reading-based Troop L Criminal Investigation Assessment Unit is continuing its investigation.

Redner, 55, who was the executive vice president of Redner’s Markets Inc., was found beaten to death on a neighbor’s property in the 400 block of Reber’s Bridge Road on the morning of March 9, troopers said.

Trooper Ethan M. Brownback, public information officer for Troop L, said the posting is part of the natural cycle of drawing attentino to the case.

“Unfortunately there are no new details in regards to this case,” he said. “It is still being actively investigated, and we are still pushing forward with it.”

Troopers believe Redner was confronted at the driver’s side of his vehicle in his driveway. They say then fled through a wooded area and was confronted by the attacker in the neighbor’s driveway.

Redner died of head injuries and $270 was found in his wallet, troopers said.

Redner was last seen leaving Ganly’s Irish Pub & Restaurant, 500 Brownsville Road, on March 8 about 7 p.m. The pub is less than a quarter-mile from Redner’s home.

Authorities at the time said they were unaware of any dispute or trouble that took place at the pub before Redner left.

Dozens of state police worked on the case around the clock for several days, traveling out of state to conduct interviews and chase down leads as a great deal of physical evidence was processed by forensics specialists, authorities said then.

Anyone with information regarding Redner’s killing is asked to contact PSP Tips Toll Free at 1-800-472-8477 or online at p3tips.com/tipform.aspx?ID=107
