SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries Thursday evening after a vehicle struck them on Harrison Avenue, according to the Scranton Police Department.
Officers were dispatched around 5:06 p.m. on December 11 to the area of Harrison Avenue and Mulberry Street following reports that a vehicle had hit two pedestrians. When patrol units arrived, they located the involved vehicle stopped a short distance away in the 400 block of Harrison Avenue.
Emergency Medical Services treated an adult man and woman at the scene before they were taken by Pennsylvania Ambulance to Geisinger Community Medical Center.
Investigators say the pair were standing in the roadway when they were hit. A preliminary review, supported by witness interviews and surveillance footage, indicates the pedestrians were in the eastbound lane of the road when the northbound vehicle struck them.
The Scranton Police Highway Unit Supervisor and the Pennsylvania State Police CARS Reconstruction Unit conducted a full forensic crash reconstruction at the scene.
