An 85-year-old pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a passing vehicle in Wyoming Borough on Monday afternoon, according to Wyoming Area Regional Police.

Alexander Paulowsky, of Wyoming, was walking when he was struck by a Ford pickup in the area of Sixth Street and Wyoming Avenue shortly after 1 p.m. Monday, Chief Michael Turner said.

Police and medics arriving on scene found Paulowsky critically injured and began life-saving measures, he said. Paulowsky was rushed to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Twp., where he died shortly after arrival.

Turner said the driver of the Ford remained on scene and was cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
