ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Just days apart, police responded to a bomb threat at an Allentown middle school.
Trexler Middle School students are returning back to a regular schedule Tuesday morning.
Police were called to Trexler Middle School around 8:30 a.m. Monday for reports of another bomb threat. It was the second one that the school received within less than a week.
Officers conducted a sweep of the school grounds and building with help from a canine team but did not find any suspicious packages.
The threat was determined to be false, city police said. A male juvenile was arrested and is charged with terroristic threats.
On Thursday, officers were originally called to the middle school for reports of a bomb threat.
Police arrested a juvenile male, and the threat was determined to be a hoax.
The Allentown Police Department says the two incidents are not related.
According to an email from Trexler Middle School Principal Bob Morrow sent to the community, bomb threats are considered a level 4 infraction according to the Allentown School District’s Student & Family handbook, “representing an immediate danger to the safety and wellbeing of the entire school.”
Morrow told 69 News Reporter Cierra Genelle Tuesday morning the school is stressing to students to have strong communication.
School administrators met with students at the end of the day Monday to make sure they felt they had a safe space to talk about their feelings about the recent school incidents.
In the email to the community, Morrow said anyone with safety concerns is encouraged to use the district’s Anonymous Tip Line at 1-844-SAF2SAY or safe2saypa.org (available 24/7).
In emergencies, people should call 911 immediately.
Every tip is thoroughly investigated, and students are urged to report credible or suspected threats with as much detail as possible, Morrow said in the email.
Morrow notes it is a felony in Pennsylvania to report false information to law enforcement.
