With wintry weather forecasted for the weekend, the Pennsylvania Turnpike and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation have announced some restrictions starting on Saturday.
Starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, certain vehicles will be prohibited from some roadways. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph.

Both entities advise against unnecessary travel.
Snow is expected to start falling early Saturday starting in the northwest of Pennsylvania and moving east, ending Sunday morning. The Harrisburg area is expected to see 1 to 2 inches of snow.
Sunday is forecast to be cold and windy.
PennDOT and Pa. Turnpike crews will pre-treat roads where necessary ahead of the storm to help prevent ice from forming.
“However, salt does not resolve all risks, and drivers may encounter icy spots on the roadway. With freezing temperatures, roads that look wet may actually be icy, and extra caution is needed when approaching bridges and highway ramps where ice can form,” the Turnpike said.
Vehicle and speed limit restrictions will be communicated on variable message boards as well as on 511PA.com and the 511PA smartphone app.
