ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Some kids in Allentown got a special holiday treat on Friday thanks to the Allentown Police Department.
They hosted their annual “Shop with a Cop” event at Target.
15 kids from the Sixth Street Shelter got to go around the store with officers to pick out presents for themselves and their families.
Officers with the department says the main mission of the event is to connect with the community and bring some joy.
“It’s something where we’re able to communicate with our young people, our future leaders that I like to talk about. And the officers themselves, many of them have kids, so if we can bring smiles on the faces of our children, it’s that much better. And to support those in need, very much are for that,” said Charles Roca, chief of police.
The morning of shopping was followed by lunch, gift-wrapping and a visit from Santa.
