A missing hunter was found dead on Saturday morning in Penns Valley after a search that began late Friday afternoon.
Emergency response agencies were dispatched at about 4:30 p.m. Friday to the 400 block Green Grove Road in Gregg Township for a search detail.
The Centre County coroner was called to the scene on Saturday morning, and just before noon the Gregg Township Fire Company in a Facebook post thanked the agencies that assisted with the search.
Information about the hunter’s identity and cause of death have not yet been released. Citing state troopers, WJAC-TV reported the man died of natural causes.
Gregg Township, Centre Hall, Miles Township and Millheim fire companies, Centre County Emergency Management, Penns Valley EMS, the Pennsylvania Game Commission and state police, as well as the coroner’s office, responded to the scene.
The search for the hunter continued well into a cold Friday night and intensified on Saturday morning. Centre County 911 reported that a heavy first responder presence was expected to begin around 9 a.m., urging residents to avoid the area and hunters to use caution.
