FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. — Ten members of the Pennsylvania National Guard were honored during a ceremony on Saturday before they deploy to Europe.

The soldiers are part of the 109th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment (MPAD). The soldiers were able to say goodbye to their families before a year-long deployment.

“Everybody in the unit is excited to work over there, everyone’s prepared, and we’re ready to do the best we can,” said Skylin Simpson, a soldier in the 109th MPAD. “We’ll be performing coverage with photography, videography, we’ll be writing articles, working with any special ops people over there.”

It was announced during the ceremony that the soldiers will be deploying to Germany. The soldiers will be helping support the U.S. Special Operations Command Europe.
