A lake-effect snow warning remains in place for Erie and Crawford counties until Monday, Dec. 15, at 7 a.m.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland projects at least 4 inches of snow for the region, and more in some areas. Low temperatures are forecast to be in the teens the nights of Dec. 14 and Dec. 15, with morning wind chill values in the single digits to below zero.

Lake-effect snow warning in Erie, Crawford counties

Heavy lake-effect snow will fall around Erie for a second straight day, accumulating 4 inches to 8 inches, according to the weather service. Accumulation will be greatest in the higher terrain of southern Erie and northern Crawford counties. Edinboro could see 3 inches to 5 inches during the day and 2 inches to 4 inches more at night, for instance.

Snowfall rates of an inch to 2 inches per hour are expected at times through the evening of Dec. 14.

Wind chills around zero to minus 10 degrees are possible the morning of Dec. 14, and 5 to minus 5 the morning of Dec. 15.

Weather forecast for Erie area

The weather service in Cleveland forecast for Erie on Dec. 14 calls for snow, mainly before 5 p.m., accumulating an inch to 2 inches. The high will be around 23, and west winds will gust as high as 29 mph.

Snow is expected the night of Dec. 14, mainly after 10 p.m. An additional inch of snow is possible. The low will be near 16.

On Dec. 15, snow is likely, mainly before 1 p.m. and accumulating an inch to 2 inches. The high will be around 27. Southwest winds could gust as high as 29 mph.
