Early Sunday, firefighters in Scranton swiftly contained a kitchen fire at an apartment complex, where EMTs had to check out at least one resident.

SCRANTON, Pa. — Sunday morning, firefighters worked to put out a fire in an apartment complex in Scranton.

Fire crews were called along Olive Street and North Washington Avenue around 2:30 pm this morning.

Firefighters told Newswatch 16 there was a kitchen fire in one of the units, and it was put out quickly.

EMTs checked at least one resident.

Firefighters say the cause of this fire is unknown.
