THEY SAY CREWS HAVE TREATED ALL MAIN STREETS AND SOME SECONDARY STREETS, BUT ADDITIONAL TREATMENTS WILL BE REQUIRED FOR RESIDENTIAL AREAS AND ALLEYWAYS. THEY ALSO SAY THEY GOT NEARLY TWICE THE AMOUNT OF SNOW THAT WAS EXPECTED. THEY SAY CREWS WILL BE WORKING

‘Extremely proud of the work:’ Pittsburgh officials give update on snow removal

Pittsburgh city officials say they are fairly proud of the work that has been done to remove snow and clear roads following Saturday evening’s snowstorm. In a release from the city on Sunday, the City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works crews reported “moderate successes under arduous conditions” after some neighborhoods in the city received seven to nine inches of snow, double the originally forecasted three to six inches.“I am extremely proud of the hard work of by the Public Works crew who, despite the odds, battled nearly twice the amount of snow we originally expected,” said Chris Hornstein, Director of the Department of Public Works, Chris Hornstein, said. As of Sunday afternoon, the release said, additional trucks have been dispatched to neighborhoods that received signifigant snowfall. “Main roads, residential streets, and alleyways will continue to be treated throughout the day,” the release said. “Overnight operations were challenged by the rapid rate of snowfall, which required crews to rely on plowing in lieu of salt application.”Crews will continue to work around the clock through 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15.
